Did Francis embarrass the sport of MMA

Francis was never known for his wrestling or takedown skills. In a street fight, he would fight Joshua exactly like one would expect him to and what he is famous for - the Ford Escort punch. He would try to do the Ford Escort thing and next thing he would see is Anthony Joshua KTFO him in a split second. Like Francis said, he does not remember anything about the punches Joshua landed.

I can see this.

The street/real fight stuff is become ultra cringe.

You're on a MMA forum, maybe you could learn something about MMA.
Well Francis is a striker in mma and the only times he went to the ground was because he was getting starched on the feet and just layed on his opponent and didn't do anything from the top, so what do you expect him to do vs a much tougher and stronger opponent? Kiss him to death? Lol

If only he stopped with the fury fight then MMA wouldn’t look as inferior. Casuals will have a hard time believing the heavyweight champ is the “baddest man on the planet” from now on. I understand it should've been expected for Francis to get outboxed against Joshua but to get absolutely humiliated and knocked out brutally within 2 rounds isn’t a good look for MMA and someone once considered the baddest man on the planet.

I think people in general have to accept that MMA fighters going into boxing are inferior and there is no way around it. The fact that Francis went to split decision with Fury, shows that MMA fighters can box quite well. But to expect performance like that all the time is reaching too high. The man's first two pro boxing fights were against two of the top HW boxers of the last decade.

In a street fight, with no prior knowledge of who the other person is, I can see many boxers chinning MMA fighters easily. Unless you're Ben Askren, most MMA fighters will throw hands to start with, and if they are up against a good boxer they will get ktfo before they realise they should be shooting takedowns.

Joshua would chin Ngannou for sure if they got into a real fight and Ngannou didn't know who he was dealing with. He'd probably throw some wild shit and be on his ass before he knew what happened.
Well Francis isn’t a good boxer, he just has power. Plenty of mma guys have decent boxing

Anyway what would Francis do on the ground? Haven't people seen him vs a noob like Gane on the ground? Dude looks like a dead fish laying on top and has no idea what he's doing lol.

"Fans" who think like this are more of an embarrassment to MMA...

Francis did not embarrass the sport of MMA anymore than James Toney embarrassed the sport of Boxing. Francis did what he felt was good for Frances. He took a chance and found out that guys in Boxing know how to throw better punches. He took a swing and came up short but made a heck of a lot of money. If invested properly Francis Ngannou will never have to work again a day in his life. I respect that very much. There is nothing wrong with failure it is an essential part of achieving success.

He didn't go out there saying MMA fighters will wreck boxers in their own sport so he's good. Any sane fan of either MMA or boxing knows this was a highly possible outcome.

No. He's still the baddest man on the planet. If you think Joshua would beat him in a real fight, power slap yourself.
I like how you guys like to pretend Ngannou would ever omaplata Joshua or any other HW boxers.

And not, you know, strike with them like the striker he is.

Ngannou's only shooting TDs AFTER he gets lit up on the feet. We also found out just how quickly and badly he might get finished by that.

NOW he's found out just bad of a striker he actually is compared to them he's going to be tossing out calf kicks and shooting TDs like his life depends on it. BEFORE if you really thought that you're retarded. Just cause MMA fighters might know other methods of fighting doesn't mean they're not going to fight like they usually do.

Dana White refusing to pay his top athletes better is more embarrassing. It's the only reason why Conor McGregor was on two knees and begging to get knocked out by Mayweather. Same reason why we got a bunch of washed up MMA fighters wanting to box Jake Paul.
It is more embarrassing that the 30 mil Francis made for going 0-2 boxing was more than his entire ufc career. Conor made more in one boxing match than his entire ufc career.

I don’t think that, but Fury couldn’t hurt Big Frank the way AJ did.
If you think Fury carried Ngannou to a split decision victory that tarnished his legacy and made him a laughing stock, I have a bridge to sell you.
It’s obvious fury didn’t train or take him seriously

Hell NO......

Anyone with a brain knows a top boxer should have no problem beating a top MMA guy in boxing and vice versa. It has been like this since day one.

Francis should’ve just tried to explode and bum rush Joshua

If there's one unreliable narrator whose opinion I'm never interested in, it's you.

Like I said, learn something about MMA because right now it sounds like you've never seen what happens when a grappling noob gets taken to the ground. Fix your ignorance.

You seem to think Francis would be knocked out in seconds and that's stupid. Even when Francis was restricted to only punches, it took two rounds. Francis was the UFC champ for a reason and part of that is quickly figuring out what tools to use and when.
