News Chris Weidman is back against Brad Tavares at UFC 292

10 pages guys? We're still not healed from the Silva fights, huh.

You have no clue. Get another hobby

? So dancing around like a moron with your hands down, clowning around, and laughing is a smart thing to do during a fight? You might get away with it against BJJ specialists like Maia or Leites or against a guy like Griffin who you hold a significant speed advantage over but make no mistake it’ll catch up with you sooner or later. Especially against a guy who nearly killed someone on the feet in his prior fight like Weidman did.

Hands down…man down.

Decent match up for a return fight. It's definitely winnable for Chris.

I'd love to see Chris add another win or two before he hangs them up. Phenomena have been plaguing him for years.

How many times are we going to see "Prime" "Peak" Weidman mentioned? Dude should probably retire when fans all have to talk about what he would have done. Just feel like he's going to either get sacrificed for his name to build someone or get matched so carefully that he becomes like Arlovski, just gatekeeping the lower tiers.

I don't understand why.

He had his time, and could enjoy being a champ for two years. Then everyone was able to finish him, just like that (except for Gastelum).
Then at 36 he breaks his leg, but now he's gonna return at age 39 because...?
needs money

He slipped punches with his hands down vs Belfort too, who doesnt fit none of the descriptions you made. At all. Among others, who weren't neither BJJ specialists nor particularly slow opponents.

It's a risky technique that not many can pull off succesfully. It's not "acting like a moron" though, except for someone who has no clue.
Weidman was getting the better of Silva, while Silva was fighting by the textbook. He started to drop his hands in an attempt to bait Weidman and capitalize on a mistake.
It backfired. But as I said, it's not "acting as a moron" unless you have no clue about what you are watching. The fact you tried to back it up with simpleton stereotypes about "BJJ guys as Leites" or "slow Griffin" is very telling to me but its cool if its your opinion

It works until it doesn’t, it’s undoubtedly a risky move regardless. I’m also pretty sure he wasn’t clowning around to this extent against Belfort.

but not by Brunson.

Brunson wrestled at North Carolina Pembroke while also being a cheerleader and he’s also always had notoriously terrible cardio. Nowhere close to Weidman’s level.

The difference is that he was outclassing Maia, either fighting by the textbook or by what you call "clowning". He was fighting a guy who throwed less strikes in 25 minuts than Yushin Okami (not exactly a high output guy) did in 7.
It's not that easy to finish or do anything to a guy who doesnt open up, specially for a counter striker that is not comfortable in the lead as Anderson.

vs Weidman he started fighting very tight, no clowning, and wasnt able to read Chris nor stop his entrances to TDs. Fighting by the textbook he would not get caught as he did but he would just keep getting frustrated and getting beat by Weidman, so he tried to bait Chris into one of his counters and change that outcome. It was more of a desperate move than anything else. Weidman came prepared for it

I'm glad my last name isn't Weidman.

People would call me Singleweidman because I live in a single wide trailer and no woman wants me.

But at least if I ever came up in life, I may get called Doubleweidman because I could afford a double wide trailer and have a girl double the size of the rest of you.

Chris feels after this fight with a win he is next in line for a title shot.

He also did better in terms of wrestling against Romero than Weidman did.
