O'Malley blew his post-fight callout.

Crowd didn't react because they didn't know who Topuria is

Is anyone actually interested in seeing Sean vs Ilia?

I'm legit asking cause I don't give the slighest fuck about seeing these two compete against eachother.
Hell yeah! Merab, like Belal might deserve a shot, but this would be an absolute banger. The lead up alone would be fun af.

Conor was never anything special? He's the highest paid fighter by far and has the highest grossing PPV cards. Conor is literally #1,2,3,4 for highest grossing PPVs
Ok Conor is a special hype job. Fighting he definitely was basic as fuck.

He had a string of impressive wins which catapulted him to stardom. He was knocking out everyone in his UFC run, then he knocked out Chad Mendes, then Jose Aldo in 5 seconds, lost to nate, then he knocked out eddie. It was not just one thing that made Conor huge it was a variety of factors some of which are skills Omalley just doesn't have such as being witty on the mic. If Omalley went out there and KO'd Chito then we'd be talking differently.

Both of these guys are trying to copy Conor but there can only be one.

Only reason why conor was hyped up was bc of the country pride. UFC gave him a golden road which added to the hype. But conor was never anything special even though nate diaz was 3 times bigger in that one fight.
His accent is what got him far imo. You know the Americans be loving their accents.

Of course he wants to fight Illia. He doesn’t want to fight the takedown machine, Illia is far more up his alley. And the risk reward is great. If he loses, it wasn’t his weight class and he’s still champ, if he wins double champ. All win no

Live at presser:

Hey Sean, would you fight Merab if Vera doesn’t make it.

Sean: 100%, absolutely.

Sherdog: he’s obviously ducking Merab

<{1-1}>

'hes a superstar, bigger than the belt, he's special' - morons

And the three most played highlights of him are getting finished by Nate diaz while champ, finished by kahbib after talking mad shit, and finished by DP. Irish pride and fake American Irish heritage is what got conor to the level of popularity he was at. That's not saying he wasn't a good fighter.

Sean O'malley should have called out Merab since he's obviously the next contender in line and hyped the matchup, but instead Sean decides to call out Illia Topuria who's in a different division and the crowds reaction was silent, then after hearing the weak response from the crowd Sean says "...oh yeah or Merab too" but it was already too late at that point. Dude needs to stay at 135 for a little bit he acts like Conor but he's not even a quarter as witty on the mic.

Fuck that. Merab can do it himself when he fights. It’s not the champs job to build someone to fight them if there is a no win situation. Learn to sell yourself.

If you want Conor mcgregor money and status, you need to do the work.

If you just want to fight and not put in that work, you’ll eventually get your shot. Just not the way you want it and the money you want

That thinking is why Merab is treated like this.

And there's highlights of all his spectacular knockouts. Conor was on a really good run even with the Diaz loss, until the Khabib fight. Sean couldn't even finish Chito while Conor was dropping these champions left and right while being a wizard on the mic and making perfect callouts to build his hype further, unlike Omalley calling out the wrong person in a diff weight class. You can't say Conors only attribute was being Irish because he was knocking out multiple champions back to back.

I would rather see Sean fight Ilia than Merab. Merab is a great fighter, but he is a decision machine that is not especially exciting to watch(he is a great fighter though). And people can hate on O'Malley all they want, but he has some pretty good fights. Same with Illia.

Lol at "was already too late". Oh yeah, everybody would have gone crazy for a Merab fight if it was just 8 seconds earlier.

Yeah, I don't know why fans aren't going crazy to watch someone outcardio someone with spam TD attempts. I just can't imagine why a champ who gets PPV points would prefer a champ vs champ fight between 2 guys with crazy highlight reels instead one with a guy who's headlined 1 fight night card, has no highlight reel, no subs, no knockdowns, and 1 finish in 12 fights that was a TKO where the ref just got bored watching 100 short shots on the ground.

Merab's a nice guy and easy to like as a person, so people on here keep trying to pretend like they can't figure why guys who get PPV points would rather have a more dangerous opponent than have another guaranteed decision with Merab or Belal. Like who the hell actually thinks Merab is a more exciting matchup than Topuria?

He doesn't want Merab and no point throwing out a fake ass callout. He calling out Ilia knowing Dana going to let him know it's not time for that shit. He didn't know what to say.
