Social Trump to void birthright citizenship (part of the 14th amendment)

Interpreting it? How can this be interpreted differently?

All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Reside is the key word - typicallly used to express one's permanent home. I think you could argue that a tourist doesn't reside in the state he's visiting.
 
I guess since Republicans want to take a look at outdated amendments then we should look at them all.

I’m sure if Trump can get the GOP behind rewording the 14th he would have no problem doing the same to the 22nd.

  1. Minorities tend to have more children during their fertile years
  2. A generally younger population is more likely to have more children, and minority populations tend to be younger in the US
  3. Attitudes about racial mixing have changed substantially since the 1950s
  4. Republicans have tried their best to deny family planning services to many areas with high minority populations
  5. The baby boomer generation is getting older and starting to die off
Now it's not that hard to figure out why Trump and his alt righters want to ban jus soli, considering the current Republican brand is demographically doomed otherwise.

That would account for gaining a few percentage points, not going from almost none to a majority in 2-3 generations. You're going to have a hard time explaining how the poorest people having the most kids by far is a good thing for a country.

Then the rest of the country can be run like LA and San Fran with homeless populations the size of other states' capitals despite having untold billions in tech money. I guess cleaning up human shit on the streets can be one of those guaranteed government jobs they keep telling me about.

I remember hearing, as a kid, stories about how human beings would eventually all just interbreed to the point of being essentially like that of the San Bushman, a mixture of all peoples, except the other way around from those people. We would all have similar features in appearance, with brown skin that could go a little brighter or darker based upon the conditions.

Why are people afraid of this, exactly? Do they think knowledge about Europe would suddenly apparate into the ether?

The reason places like LA and San Francisco have sizable homeless populations despite having untold billions in tech money is because of an extreme lack of shelter for the homeless.
 
I actually think birthright citizenship is better to have when you weigh the pros and cons. Without it, you can have a permanent underclass or non-citizens in the country for generations. This allows it to sort itself out within a generation and for the family line to assimilate faster. That obviously should be paired with security and sensible policies to avoid undocumented/ overstay people in the country too.

Also, he won't be able to do this even if he wants to.

Why would white people "going away" be such a bad thing? Isn't the human race destined to become more homogenized anyway? I don't see the basis of this fear, as it seems to be obsessing over the wrapping paper while neglecting the contents of the package.

Also, nobody is gloating over white people going away, most people just don't see the fear, as the "people" portion is far more important than the "white".....

This potential change seems dumb and unnecessary, which is consistent with pretty much all of his policies involving immigration. But I like @kenetics idea of rescinding it for everyone. Instead, we can have a Hunger Games style tournament every year for 13 year olds and the top 10000 survivors get to be citizens.
Do the survivors all happen to be named Chad?

But we have tens of thousands of foreigners coming here just to give birth, and then they go back with their child. When the child is 18, he/she gets all the privileges of an American citizen, despite his/her family not living here. It is abuse of the 14th and exploitation of American society.

You can keep birthright citizenship and just enforce better to avoid the abuse. It's completely possible to stop people from traveling during a late term pregnancy. All birthright citizenship does is help heal the initial sin of the government for not enforcing sensible policies. If a family comes and lives in the country illegally, their offspring is at least able to assimilate. We would have a much much bigger problem with how we've handled immigration if this hadn't been in place. It's just a backstop for incompetence imo.
