Prime Fedor vs Ngannou

Francis would end up like Zulu it's not even funny...

Current Ngannou would obliterate any version of Fedor

You cannot think of another reason as to why he had a huge drop off in performance other than age?
Haha yeah I’m sure that can play a role too. Wasn’t it the Santos fight that Jones was “pulsing” (insert eye roll here) for and they moved venues for him—and he still didn’t look good?
But you get my point. BJ Penn wasn’t the same fighter 11+ years into his career, Roy Nelson wasn’t the same fighter 11 years in. Etc.

Yes, because Ngannou is just like a guy whose best victories in MMA were over a washed up sumo wrestler and a fighter whom he literally outweighed by 200 lbs.

This technical boxing?

Francis successfully got in close enough to put Rozenstruick off balance, negated any power behind the counters by taking the momentum out of them, and then still generated his own power enough to KO him at that same distance.

You don't have to think it's pretty to recognize its effective.

This is of course without getting into any of his other fights where he displays great striking. He and his team admitted they planned to bumrush Roz precisely because they knew he was going to back straight up off balance given his tendencies. When they need to be technical they are. They didn't here.

Fedor was overrated. The Pride fights were fixed. The competition just wasn't that good.

It's actually funny how this has become accepted history for a lot of people just because it somehow became cool to say it. The fact is that Fedor was a monster at all phases of the game. His trips were fucking artwork and he had the best gnp in the history of the game. Period. He generated more torque with punches in his opponents guard than anyone I've ever seen. He didn't need to pass. Francis his hard. Really hard. But Prime Fedor badly exposes holes in his game and takes him down and pounds him out.
c'mon, his gnp is way inflated because of one fight where nog played an open guard in their first fight. cro-cop took little damage on the ground for half the fight.

That's totally fair, but we are talking about him being able to beat the greatest HW ever.

Fedor doesn't have the wrestling to take him down. He doesn't have the boxing to stand with him. Ngannou KOs him in under 30 seconds.
What makes Ngannou too special to take down? Fedor had judo good enough to win nationals and sambo good enough to win worlds. Ngannou too heavy and big? Fedor took big dudes down in his prime, and past his prime.

Ask Heath and TK.

He rarely depended on just staying in the clinch and slowly working takedowns were power can be put to use more, it was almost always a case of chaining takedowns into striking/movement catching an opponent off balance.

Again I think if Ngannou looked to chase Fedor down as he has his other recent opponants you'd seen Fedor looking to duck under the first punch he throws and do something like...

In his prime? Fedor would take him down. He didn't stand much with Semmy and he wouldn't with Francis.

ngannou would be on his feet for about 3 seconds of the fight

all three are relatively easy to take down. rogers in particular had horrendous balance.

the idea he didn't need to pass herring is absurd. almost none of the damage against herring was from full guard.

Has Ngannou ever shown a strong defencive guard like Mirko? I think its quite likely Fedor on the ground with him would not just be in guard just as Stipe wasn't.

Ngannu is Bob Sapp 2.0

Ngannu knocked out a decent kickboxer.
Bob demolished a better one twice.

Ngannu dominated then gassed vs the best HW he faced.
Sapp did the same with Nog.

Actually Sapp >>> Ngannu

It is funny to see Sherdoggers impressed with Ngannu's bum tier striking.
