Besides the obvious, does anybody else have a problem with "Minister for Women and Gender Equality"? Focusing on only two aspects of identity is starting the equality conversation from an unequal starting point. Are women and gender benders the only ones worthy of equality? Because that's what they're implying by omission. Include all or none. That's equality.


Other than that, "your brothers, the Taliban" wouldn't give you any opportunities except for being covered head to toe and being a baby making machine lady. The overinflated sense of self importance on display via thinking your pleas might be considered will receive nothing but disdain and loathing.

The view is that the starting point has them in an inherently disadvantaged position. There's really little doubt that women have been brutally oppressed since the dawn of humanity with very little in the way of personal autonomy or economic independence. In hunter-gatherer societies and the agrarian civilizations they gave way to, it could be almost no other way. It was only through the unimaginable industrial innovations and revolutions that created the modern world could the very idea of women's equality come into existence nevermind be implemented on a society-wide scale.
