With the coronavirus in mind, will you continue to roll?

Yes people. You have to realize that we might not have bjj again for a long time. In fact, if it becomes a new respiratory ailment then we are all pretty much fucked and we can consider ourselves the last breed of bjj practitoners.
 
We shut the gym down last week. Same with work. Home office for the next month. We all have to do our part to flatten the curve.

Holy crap there are some disturbed individuals in this thread.

On 3/14 the USA had 2,900 cases and 57 deaths. Four days later we have 9,500 cases and 155 deaths. Both counts have been growing consistently at 30% PER DAY, with no sign of slowing down. At this rate we will have 220,000 infected and a 9/11's worth of total deaths (~3,000) by March 30th. That many could die every day by April 4th.

The rate of growth almost doesn't matter compared to the compounding. If you assume 25% growth, you get two extra days before those milestones are hit. 20%, five days.

I really, really hope this will not happen, and that the measures currently enacted will slow the spread DRAMATICALLY. However, there is no evidence of this yet.

Edit: Since I got a recent like, some fresh data. On 4/3 we now have over 250 thousand cases and will easily pass 7,000 dead. Thankfully, it looks like due to social distancing the compounding rate has dropped from a steady 30% daily to something more like 20-22%. The data is noisy so it's hard to tell.

Hadn't read this thread before today, its pretty eye-opening as somebody not based in the U.S. and hard to believe some of the absolute shite posted.

Is there anywhere else in the world where politics has led to this whole "made up by Liberal Media...Fake News" thing and people just ignoring or dismissing actual events happening on a global scale because it doesn't fit their own odd little narrative? Have news stations over there not been reporting what's happened in Italy, Spain and France the last few weeks and how most of Europe went in to an unprecedented lockdown last week in an attempt to try halt the spread of the virus?

You may be a tough guy but somebody in your family, social circle etc, is going to be in the most vulnerable group if you catch it and transmit it to them hence the idea to stay away from people. Its hardly complicated and its hardly some sort of Democrat plot or whatever guff was being spouted.

Presumably its trolling, nobody can be that thick surely?

It will go away eventually. SARS, H1N1 and MERS are not threats anymore, and this won’t be - with time. But for now EVERYONE STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THE MATS.

Hey... some gyms in Asia are still running classes like nothing’s happening. These are potential ticking time bombs. Do NOT train. Even world champs are off the mats now.

it won't go away, the reason SARS1 H1N1 n MERS went away is because they weren't so transmissive

Around about 1 billion people got H1N1, but we got lucky and it turned out to be as deadlly as the regular flu. If the Wuhan virus infects 1+ billion people we're looking at at least 20 million dead.

As a Brit I watch a lot of american media and I believe the reason people are calling the Coronavirus a hoax is because there is a lot of BS on both sides in the American media.

There's just not a lot of truth telling going on.
 
I kept rolling until Tuesday. I'm going to take a break for awhile now, though. There have been a few cases in my city and I have a few close family members who are high risk.
