UFC on ABC 5: Josh Emmett vs. Ilia Topuria, Jacksonville, Florida, June 24

I'm also looking at Rowe to beat Magny. I haven't done all my research yet, but i think for me it's Rowe or pass at this point.
I don't trust Magny at this point, he seems like a guy that takes this really serious, but perhaps complacency might be setting in soon. I think with the win streak that Rowe is on, he should be the more motivated fighter.
Magny is where he is in his career, feels like win or lose he will be in the same spot as before, while Rowe actually has a chance to make something happen here with a win.

Not sure if I get to the Money Line... but it's tempting.

To me, this is a very favorable matchup for Magny. Rowe will accept bottom position which is exactly what Magny wants. Magny will also work him along the fence.

Clearly. So how do you pressure without holding the center of the octagon?
Pressure and pace are two different things. Woodley was on the back foot throughout and initiating exchanges. Taking the center is just about forcing your opponent to fight on the back foot, but that doesn't mean you're redefining the pace of the fight. A pace full of exchanges and a lot of volume can also be established on the back foot. Volk did it against Holloway.

The pace can affect who will take the center if you force him to the rhythm of the movement and the pace of the fight, which he has not experienced before and does not find his way in it. It cannot be said that Holloway imposed the pace on Volkanovski by taking the center, because Volkanovski gave it and controlled the fight from the back foot. There is a pace of volume, you will lose the center of the octagon, if the opponent throws twice as much volume as you. Griffin was not threatened at any moment, at every movement he made, he went into the distance (in your face) and punished him.

Kind of agree, I just don't know how much Magny has left in the tank. That said, he's ALWAYS going to be a guy who gives everything he has. Probably among the last fighters I'd ever say would mail it in. He's the epitome of a grinder.

When the fight was announced I leaned Emmett so I’ll gladly take +250. Would be more confident if I knew he’d wrestle at all as Mitchell got Topuria down pretty easily and maintained top control for the remainder of the round. I also question Topuria’s cardio and I already know Emmett has the tank for 5 Rounds.
Easily? Bryce LITERALLY MADE 1/9 TD LOL

Agree.

He usually only lose to monsters as well.
If he loses to Rowe, it'll be his worst loss since Seth Baczynski 10 years ago.

Once he really committed to one in the first round he got it pretty easily and Topuria showed no real ability to get up. Mitchell maintained top position for the rest of the round. This is also a huge step up in not only competition but the actual length of the fight as Topuria has only been three rounds once let alone a potential five. Way too many question marks to pay -400.

You have to look at it this way. Not all fighters start off extraordinary , at one point Magney was Phil Rowe. There have been fighters who were average and then made adjustments and became good fighters. Rowe is a big guy with a good punch. He has the tools to win and there is no shame there. Nico Price is a solid win on his cap. Nico Price would give Magney a decent fight too, Rowe is in arms reach of an upset.

I agree with the part that it's a big step up and that Topuria isn't tested enough, but man what a strectch on the wrestling.Bryce wanted the fight on the floor as he knew he's going to get murked on the feet and all fight he was getting stuffed, commited lol if he could he would be on Topuria the whole fight but Ilia is a really good grappler

not to mention that Topuria has a glass jaw. Emmett only needs one and “the lights go out in Georgia”

Topuria doesnt have a glass jaw, what are you talking about? Just because he got rocked by one head kick doesnt mean he has a glass jaw. Not saying Emmet can't knock him out, i reckon Emmet can KO anyone in the division but to say Topuria has a glass jaw is a bit of stretch to say the least.

Ye maybe you are right, watched some more Rowe yesterday and there are holes that Magny could exploit for sure. Also Magny has that true veteran savy that could be the difference in a close fight like this.
I haven't bet Rowe and I doubt that I will to be honest. Think i'll pass on both money lines, but if I had to chose i would bet the Rowe money line rather than the Magny money line.

The Over 1.5 RDs at -115 for the main event had my attention. We could get a bit of a feeling out process with both guys respecting the others power.

No odds on my site yet but I'm curious what the line for fight to start RD 2 will be

Money Moicano has his own MMA predictions and thoughts channel on YouTube. I like that his videos are short and to the point, and he tells it like it is. Maybe not the most in-depth analysis, but I enjoy his delivery thus far.

Topuria ate a full blown shin from a LW and didn't get put out, he's got anything but a glass chin.

Right because Damon Jackson, Bryce Mitchell, Youseff Zalal, and RYAN HALL all have serious striking skills
