Elections Larry Elder vs Gavin Newsom

Who will win the recall election?

In what sense does Newsom "suck"? And I actually think the resounding defeat of the recall should give him more confidence. Looks like he's a lock for re-election.

Newsom isn't the worst governor of the 50 states by a long shot, but there's a lot that just doesn't ever seem to get done or addressed in California when it comes to managing the environment, education, housing, and other social programs. We're better off than a lot of states, but I think we could easily be doing a lot more.

My complaints about him don't really have anything to do with COVID. While some of his hypocrisy is aggravating, it didn't reach the level where he should be booted out of office.
I agree, and think he probably will have a better chance at locking in his re-election, but I would hope that this ordeal would make him want to do better and address some of the criticisms he gets.

We just had two landmark housing bills get through to Newsom (and like I said, if he doesn't sign them, then I think some real criticism would be justified). He's also pushed some of his own initiatives on that. He doubled the EITC, which I think counts as a pretty major social program. Also boosted ACA subsidies, which is very significant. He expanded early-childhood education (doesn't kick in until 2025, though), which was pretty significant on education. On the environment, he's banned future fracking (I have some misgivings about this myself), and there's the all-electric new car thing (by 2035--only really significant if we reduce reliance on fossil fuels for the energy grid, though).

I think the key thing is that pending item up top there. SB9 and SB10 passing on their own won't fix the housing crisis, but they'll be really big steps in the right direction. If he vetoes them, and I know he's getting a ton of pressure to do so, that would be a big blow to the state.

I voted for Trump and I was happy with most of his policies until covid and the stimulus packages.

There aren't going to be better Democratic candidates for California. Only what the machine allows to be presented for the people.
Then the only choice I have is to leave open the door for the messiah better Democratic candidate, or give up.
I'm going to stick with the former for now.

Lol. California just voted for even more violent crime, homelessness, and high taxes.

You get what you vote for yet Californians are somehow confounded as to why so many sane, rational people are fleeing the state.

Would you be ok with charging someone who knows they are COVID + yet went around infecting people and then some of those people have major complications and die? No you wouldn’t so spare us about AIDS.

What stupid whataboutism. Yes, I do believe someone intentionally spreading COVID should be charged with a felony. But your deflecting is so silly. COVID has a 99.7% recovery rate with most people experiencing mild or zero symptoms. HIV/AIDS is a horrific illness. Intentionally spreading either should be highly illegal.

That's really where my biggest concern is right now with him, because I can very easily see him vetoing SB9 and 10
I honestly just don't trust his word on the fracking, and the electric car thing is so far away that it's hard for me to put much stock in that happening either. And I think there valid criticisms about water management--that problem didn't' start with him of course, but I'd like to see some serious action on that.
Expanded early childhood is good, but, I'd like to see the cost of university addressed.

AB132 was a good step toward addressing college costs. I'm ambivalent about fracking. I think it's necessary and good in the short term, but we want to move away from it longer term. Not sure what Newsom should do about water management.

I’ve yet to hear anything substantive on why they don’t like Elder. The racist left hates him because he’s black. The TDS lunatics and racists hate him because of Orange man bad.

Anyone actually make a statement about Larry that isn’t a liberal buzzword their brainwash forces them
to parrot?

I disagree with his position from an interview last week where he said that descendents of white slave owners should receive reparations for having their private property taken from them if descendents of slaves get reperations. I don't support reperations but his position is fucking insane.

so you're not a bot? You're just a guy who goes in multiple threads and posts the same lame-ass verbatim word salad? Sounds very cool

And it's stupid. What is Newsom going to do to increase violent crime? There's no background knowledge or real thought being put in here. It's just like "duh, the Facebook memes I get my news from say California is bad and it's the Demmycrats fault. I ain't never set foot outside my hometown in Alabama but I'm a expert on California polytics because I read the memes on the Facebook."

99.7%. Where do you guys get all of these wrong numbers? Certainly not the NIH or CDC because the current recovery rate is 98%. I’m 100% certain my correction won’t stop you from continuing to provide wrong information.

Elder isn't even that extreme, especially on social issues. He's libertarian and generally sides with personal choice over government involvement.

And only partisan hacks believe his position is that slave owners should be compensated.
He actually did say that if Black people get reparations then slave owners are also owed reparations. It is asinine to equate slaves and slave owners.

“When people talk about reparations, do they really want to have that conversation? Like it or not, slavery was legal,” Elder said as a guest on conservative commentator Candace Owens’ radio show in July. “Their legal property was taken away from them after the Civil War, so you could make an argument that the people that are owed reparations are not only just Black people but also the people whose ‘property’ was taken away after the end of the Civil War.”

I'm all for holding Newsome accountable, and putting in better leadership----I"m not for trying something new for the sake of something new, especially when that something new is Larry Elder.
no you're not, the concept is simple, a proven failure needs to go, there were tons of other candidates, it didnt have to be elder. typical hogwash simpleton logic, makes absolutely perfect sense in the grand scheme of things.

It's only that simple to people that aren't serious.
Elder was in the lead. I'm not going to get rid of one bad choice for a worse one. Holding Newsom accountable is not worth the dick in my ass that an Elder or lesser candidate would be.

California's recall system makes no sense, and I"m not chancing some random that I don't know anything about taking the reins.
The time for accountability will be at the next election

I live in California and crime rates have increase due to criminals who are illegal immigrants. The media here is so bias that they will hardly report these type of news because it doesn’t fit their narrative.

What is the source of your information?

Also their the homeless situation is also getting out of control. The middle class is slowly but surely disappearing due to high tax regulations but yet I don’t understand how the elderly don’t see this when they vote.
