Sean Strickland Responds to Jon Anik’s Criticism of MMA Fanbase

That was both weird an awesome comment

We've questioned this for some time.

Anik is still my boy !
I’m giving him one more chance

Anik isn't wrong. The average MMA fan probably has a IQ of 50 and has no clue about how to break down a fighters skill set. They just think whoever wins is the goat and whoever loses sucks.

That's me.

Lol

Here is the Anik apology

Jon isn't wrong here at all. I've been a mma fan for 28 years and some of us are truly pathetic to what we say about things on here

Wisdom is holding two contradictory truths simultaneously. Anik is right that fans are sensationalist retards who get worked up over nothing. Strickland is right that that very fan base is what gives Anik a job, and that’s a good thing. It’s good that viewers are bloodthirsty savages because better fights get made that way.
No such thing as “two contradictory truths.”
Wisdom is the ability or result of an ability to think and act utilizing knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight.
Calling the MMA fanbase the lowest common denominator was very unwise and of course he will get pushback.
Speaking in absolutes, as you did, is retarded.

What's wrong with that?

In the US, those fans exist for all the major sports. it's absolutely not unique to MMA.

I don't have any interest in hearing Sean's opinions. Dude is all talk and never actually shows up to fight.

I totally agree with you. I'm a Dallas cowboys fan for life. I've been hearing it all my life

what does anik bring that is unique to the broadcast? absolutely nothing. he's a corporate shill, never had a solid interest in MMA before this job, and he can't even look away from comments? as if his word is so highly valued and we must all just agree with his noob ass MMA, corporate voice line, absolute gutter trash takes? F that. he called all of you the lower common denominator. he adds no feeling to the UFC commentating, brings nothing to the night and is replaceable. goodluck with the NFL gig, nerd. goldberg was better in every way and made those UFCs feel like we were witnessing something special.

Anik can be annoying but at least he doesn’t throw pitty parties like Ariel

even seans corner didnt think he won that fight
lmao
thats on live

I honestly feel soccer fans are the worst sir.
The racial bullshit from them is fuckin gross on a lot of levels.
They're both the best, and the worst fans at the same time.

Racism is heavily stamped down on, but still happens in Europe, especially in the east, and Spain... Violence exists in a way that no other sport comes close to as well... Tribalism, hooliganism, and constant screaming abuse are part of the game... England's game is so sterilised now though that racism around the game pretty much only exists on twitter these days.

Having said all of that, the atmosphere inside football stadiums, and even live events on big screens can be seminal... Its also crazy the way songs and chants happen all at once, and generally speaking, there's great humour involved.

It's one of those "the 1% made everyone else look bad" things... I've never perosnally seen any racism, or violence at any games I've been to, but I know plenty people who have...

Anik has always been the most generic, vanilla commentator. As someone who watched UFC since 1995 -- never been a fan of his. I hope they sack him.

He is not knowledgeable about MMA and not that good about what he does. The issue is not that there aren't stupid MMA fans but the fact that he is coming out with statements like that.

You don't like the sport because some meanies on the internet wrote some stuff about you? I question how much you really enjoyed this.

If this is just another sport to do -- I don't know, man -- I'd want someone who really really loves the sport like I do and would not move to another sport just because some people posted mean stuff on his feed.

People say mean things on the Internet -- this is a surprise to him? I always thought his love and knowledge and passion for MMA was questionable at best -- I honestly think Megan Olivi is much better than him -- certainly a lot more passionate - I've always thought she was great.

Anik always has been a vanilla, generic, corporate Don Lemmon of MMA. Not to defend the stupid fans but come on man -- you run your mouth for a living, have a great career in the greatest sport in the world, getting paid big bucks for running your mouth and this is how you respond?

I'll take Goldie with his inane comments over Anik any day, even Mauro is better than him with his cheesiness.

It's disrespectful to MMA. Get rid off Anik! He won't be missed, not that good at what he does.
